Thanks so much for having me here on your site today, Carol. I’m honored to be here. Let me introduce myself to your readers:
My name is Pam Thorson, and I’m a wife, mom, grandma, licensed practical nurse, full-time caregiver, author, and speaker. I’m a member of the Advanced Writers and Speakers Association (AWSA). I’ve always loved to write, but it was a family tragedy that moved me to write my first book. Song in the Night is the true account of our middle son’s fight for life after a devastating spinal cord injury in 1997. It recounts the events of the early days after his injury and the grace of God that taught us to trust Him through the darkest nights. It’s available in hardcover and on Kindle here: http://www.amazon.com/Song-Night-Familys-Journey-Darkness/dp/193058038X/ref=tmm_hrd_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1423591324&sr=1-1 Out from the Shadows: 31 Devotions for the Weary Caregiver was released by Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas in March of 2014. In it I share inspiration and insights gleaned from my seventeen years as a caregiver. Out from the Shadows is endorsed by quadriplegic artist and disability advocate Joni Eareckson Tada. It’s available in paperback and on Kindle here: http://www.amazon.com/Out-Shadows-Devotions-Weary-Caregiver/dp/194110312X/ref=tmm_pap_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1423591485&sr=1-5 I’m excited by my newest project, a very personal one for me. As a young child, I moved from state to state with my family as my dad pursued a career in broadcasting. All the moving led to a lot of insecurity. I remember once staring at the big Mayflower truck packed with all our belongings, overcome with sadness as I realized that my whole life was in that truck. I yearned for a place to call my own. In the spring of 1963, that dream came true when my dad found on old house for sale along the Clearwater River in Idaho. It came with fourteen acres and no water. But I was ecstatic at the hope of finally having a place to call home. We moved in and went to work making it livable again. I was nine years old, and it was here I learned to love the little community called Arrow Junction. I put down my roots deep at Arrow. When I married, my husband and I built a log home here and raised our five children. Over the years, I’ve learned much about Arrow. It was the site of Native American encampments, two visits by the Lewis and Clark expedition, bootleggers, hobos, rabid coyotes, floods, railroad wrecks, and the kidnapping of one of Idaho’s lieutenant governors. Over the years I’ve collected information, stories, and pictures of the place and the people. It was a hobby that got out of hand. I am now deep into researching and writing the history of Arrow Junction. We have a tentative launch date of late 2015 or early spring of 2016 for Arrow: The History and People of an Idaho Community. If you’re interested in history, watch for this book. It won’t take long to understand why I love this place so much.
